3 Babes Dripping in Emporio Armani Take on The Beach

Sydney

— November 7, 2019 —

With an assortment of Emporio Armani-flavoured sartorial treats in our bags, we took to the beach in Sydney with three models from different slices of the world. Zarina, a Copenhagen sweetheart who cooks the best ramen; Mun, a South Sudanese/Kenyan angel now living in Melbourne who feels most alive when he “freely gives to others with no expectations in return”; and Maisie, a nomadic model originally from Sydney who can often be found with her nose in a book.

After throwing shapes in front of CPC friend Luca Kiripun’s lens, we chatted with the glorious people about what freedom looks like, how they’d best save the world, and what words guide them through life like a compass in the forest. Get acquainted below!

Zarina

Where are you from originally, and where do you live now?
I was born and raised in Copenhagen, and that’s where I still live.

What are three reasons we need to visit your city?
1) You can ride a bike without worrying about getting run over by a car all the time, as there are biking trails everywhere.
2) It’s the home of rye bread—seriously, the best bread in the world!
3) To visit Christiania, a little village in the city with street art and a chill vibe.

Best places to eat, drink and soak up culture in your city?
Kødbyen if you want delicious food options; Ny Carlsberg Glyptotek, a museum where you can get some peace from the busy city; and Ørstedsparken, a great hidden park.

What does freedom look like to you?
Traveling; the opportunity to explore new cultures.

When do you feel most alive?
When I’m running. I feel like nothing can stop me.

How do you like to unwind?
Swim, bike or read a good book.

Best meal you’ve eaten/cooked recently?
Ramen. I cook the best.

Can you tell us about the best podcasts/books/films you’ve consumed recently?
The Ken Follett Century trilogy. They’re historical books with fictional people—I loved it!

Who would play you in a film about your life?
Robert Downey Jr.

What’s the coolest fun fact you’ve learned recently?
That commercial sunbeds are illegal in Australia.

Best words to live your life by:
Don’t think, just do it, ‘cause you never know how things will turn out.

Finish this sentence: The world would be a better place if... bras didn’t exist.
I used to wear one, and the best part of the day was always when I took it off. Suddenly I could breathe again. So, then I asked myself, Why am I even wearing that thing? Am I hurting without it? No. Was it because I was afraid of what other people might think...? Then I realised, I looked like everyone else. A boring round bra cup. I decided to set myself free and I’ve never been happier with and for my body. Just think about it. Also, it’s also healthier for our breasts—it makes them stronger.

Mun

Where are you from originally, and where do you live now?
I’m originally from Kenya, born and raised, though I am of a South Sudanese ethnicity. Now I live in Melbourne.

What are three reasons we need to visit your city?
For those of us that are caffeine babies, the coffee in Melbourne is definitely a reason to visit. Melbourne’s also got a lot of incredible street artwork and a great night life for those looking to socialise or just go out and dance.

Best places to eat and soak up culture in your city?
Just like other cities and states the best places to eat and soak up culture are the poorer suburbs, the multicultural suburbs, and the areas in which people are passionate about their businesses to help feed their families. Noble Park and Footscray would be great places to start.

What does freedom look like to you?
Freedom to me is to be conscious and fearless. Freedom to me means being financially able to support my family and myself, as well as being physically and mentally healthy.

When do you feel most alive?
When I freely give to others with no expectations in return.

How do you like to unwind?
By being active.

Best meal you’ve eaten/cooked recently?
Clem’s.

Can you tell us about the best podcasts/books/films you’ve consumed recently?
Recently I’ve been reading a book called What is the What by Dave Eggers—it’s a biography of Valentino Achak Deng’s life.

Who would play you in a film about your life?
We’ll have to wait and see.

What’s the coolest fun fact you’ve learned recently?
A group of crows is called murder.

Best words to live your life by: KARMA, INTEGRITY AND LOYALTY.

Finish this sentence: The world would be a better place if… we all had finesse.

Maisie

Where are you from originally, and where do you live now?
I’m a Sydney baby, born and bred. My family also owns an olive farm in the Hunter Valley, where we would hop back and forth to. As for ‘Where do I live now’ it’s pretty much the same sitch as it always is… Living out of my suitcase [laughs] but I’m looking to base myself in London soon 🤗.

What are three reasons we need to visit your city?
My city is every city. I just like travelling everywhere and I attach myself to all the places I go. Come to Sydney for the beaches. Don’t come to London for the beaches, but you should come for the art galleries. Oh, and come to Paris for the baguettes. *Drools*. No city can compete with theirs.

Best places to eat, drink and soak up culture in your city?
Whenever I’m back in Aus visiting family, I usually eat at home because it’s so rare for me to have access to a good kitchen when I’m travelling. So you could come eat at mine 😉🙃, buuut if you’re looking to eat out, the Yum Cha lunch menu at Bohdi (a vegan dumpling restaurant in the centre of Sydney) is where it’s at! Order the green tea dumplings and jasmine tea to wash it down.

What does freedom look like to you?
Freedom is equal opportunity.

When do you feel most alive?
I feel alive when I know I’m doing good by others. I see my purpose as taking opportunities to help others and be there for my friends. Or, anyone really—even smiling to a stranger on the street can make me feel good. Feeling alive really just means putting positive energy out into the world.

How do you like to unwind?
By escaping into a good read!

Best meal you’ve eaten/cooked recently?
The other day I cooked my dad a vegan apple pie. He’s fussy and doesn’t like cinnamon or spice in the pie, but either way, ooh baby it went down a treat!

Can you tell us about the best podcasts/books/films you’ve consumed recently?
Oh, podcasts. I really want to get into those, because I feel it’s like listening to radio talk shows but with less adds—I just don’t know where to start.
Books on the other hand, I love! I read A Song of Ice and Fire, the Game of Thrones book series this year and I’m on the edge of my seat waiting for the next instalment. Each time as I was reading the books, I felt like I had been watching the screenplay of it because they are just so vividly detailed. I highly recommend! I’m also reading How Not to Die by Dr. Micheal Gregor, which you should really check out if you’re interested in the ways in which you can improve your health through a plant-based diet.

Who would play you in a film about your life?
MEEEEE!

What’s the coolest fun fact you’ve learned recently?
Glass is actually a liquid! I learnt this ages ago, but I told my friend about it the other day and just think it’s super cool.
