CPC star Akiima made jaws all over Sydney drop last year when she walked for just about every show at MBFWA (from Ten Pieces to Bec & Bridge and Romance Was Born). If you weren't there to witness her in all her catwalk slaying glory, then you probs recognise the Adelaide-based beauty from her history-making Vogue Australia cover, where she shone alongside other Australian angels Fernanda Ly, Charlee Fraser and Andreja Pejic.
When she’s not on the cover of major mags, you’ll catch her flying around the world hitting one modelling milestone after the other. In anticipation of another year of slayage, we revisit the superstar-in-the-making's highlights reel from MBFWA 2018. Buckle in!
Can you describe your MBFWA 2018 experience in 5 words?
Good, vibes, exciting, empowering, fun.
What were your highlights, on and off the runway?
Being able to come back and walk for so many amazing Australian designers, so many of which included me in their shows at the start of my career; so it was nice to be able to work with them again. Off the runway, I loved seeing my friends and family.
What was the funniest thing to happen during the week?
There are always so many funny moments backstage. There is a lot of down time between hair and makeup, and rehearsals where we all laugh and have a good time.
Which collection could you see yourself wearing the most?
Camilla and Marc.
How was it walking in the opening night for Camilla and Marc?
It was amazing. The set design and entire vibe of the show was incredible.
Can you describe the mood backstage at Romance Was Born?
Buzzing with energy, and colorful, creative people!
Your Ten Pieces look was so cute! What was the vibe like at the show?
Fun! Despite the early call time, everyone was in a good mood and just having a fun time on the runway.
How did you unwind after MBFWA?
I left Australia for New York on the last day of MBFWA—I was so tired I slept the entire flight!
