PRETTY COOL: Georgia Alice's Slime Jumper

Paris

— March 13, 2018 —

We could sit here for hours listing all the incredible things that Georgia Alice can do, but we’ve all got places to be, people to see, so we’ll just dive right in with the comparatively tiny list of things she can’t do, which is: nothing. There’s absolutely nothing that Georgia Alice can’t do.

The perfect example of this—outside of puffing a sleeve like no other, or making the kinds of dresses that would inspire even the couchiest of potatoes to hit the town—is fashioning this exquisite green jumper. In the perfect kermit the frog shade of green, the jumper sits at the perf length and is as flattering as it is comfy to wear.  Just ask sweetheart Maia Toakley, who we caught up with in Paris while she was wearing the best ever jumper…

Watch Maia twirl around in it outside the Place des Vosges, then get to know her a whole lot better below!

Name: Maia Toakley
Nickname: All throughout school it was ‘Mizza’
Star sign: Aquarius

Where are you originally from, and where do you live now?
Originally from Bondi, Australia, and am lucky enough to still live there today!

What was your first impression of Paris? How do you feel about it now?
My first impression of Paris was formed when I was 11-years-old. My Mum had always talked so highly of the city, so when I first arrived, I remember thinking it definitely lived up to expectation.

I then had one bite of a freshly baked pain-au-chocolat and I was sold!

Since then it’s been a relatively big part of my life and my experiences in Paris go much deeper than the croissants. Having been there as a tourist, a student and now a model, I’ve seen a lot of what Paris has to offer—both positive and negative. However, it still remains as my favourite city in the world, and I hope to properly live there one day.

Where were your favourite places to eat, drink and shop in Paris?
To eat and drink, I love Café du Commerce—the decor, atmosphere and food definitely give you the traditional French experience. Another cool place where I was taken during my most recent stay in Paris is the Grand Mosquée de Paris where there is a beautiful ‘salon-de-thé‘ in the courtyard with a constant flow of yummy mint tea. To shop, Le Marais has it all—the boutiques, department stores and vintage/second-hand clothing!

What three songs are on high rotation for you, and why?
‘Give Me One Reason’ by Tracy Chapman is my all-time fave—she makes it seem easy!
‘Lovesick’ by Mura Masa if I’m in a good mood or want to walk down the street with a bounce in my step [laughs].
‘Shark Fin Blues’ by Missy Higgins—my friend and I can’t go a car ride without dramatically belting this out!

What do you want to be when you grow up?
Happy, self-assured... and successfully making music.

What is it that makes you most proud about being a woman?
I’m proud that we continue to put up a fight everyday despite the pressures to conform to societies outdated expectations of the way women should behave.

What are you most excited for in 2018?
Well, today I started university! So, I’m excited and curious to study architecture and meet the people who will be joining me throughout this degree.
