GANNI’s Positive 2020 Vision at Copenhagen Fashion Week

Copenhagen

— February 4, 2020 —

A quick glance at the news these days is enough to turn even the most chill among us into alarmists. While you would be forgiven for taking a doom and gloom approach to future gazing, cherished Danish brand Ganni wants you to start the decade on a more optimistic note. Enter their GANNI 202020 show at CPHFW this year. As is their MO, the show, staged in a brightly coloured skate park, was brimming with fun, youthful vibes.

GANNI’s creative director, Ditte Reffstrup, enlisted the help of 20 women from diverse creative backgrounds—from sound engineers to plastic artist Hayley Blomquist, who creates works out of plastics she finds in the city—to breathe life into the show. In line with CPHFW’s push towards more sustainable practices, their presentation included a pop-up kiosk selling up upcycled classic GANNI pieces. “For the 202020 project, GANNI is challenging creatives to work with responsible materials by aiming to reuse and recycle existing GANNI materials from previous season collections in interesting ways to create unique and one-of-a-kind products," the brand said.

As for the clothes themselves, the label has stayed true to their highly wearable but fun aesthetic with cosy knits, sparkly mini dresses, ruffle peasant collars, and chunky boots. The cherry on top? Cute-as-a-button crochet berets, which will no doubt become the cool girl hat of the season.

Hats off to you, GANNI!
