After many seasons spent lurking behind the scenes, stepping backstage at Zambesi now feels like slipping into a niche fashion week community. Familiar faces greet each other like old friends, while new ones are welcomed into the fold. With all of these catch-ups, the space feels less like a dressing room and more like a gathering. At the centre is designer Liz Findlay, moving calmly through the organised chaos of dressers and beauty teams, with her warm smile, calm as ever, saying hi to everyone along the way.

It’s a contrast to the clothes themselves. Zambesi is known for sharp tailoring and dark, moody hues; yes, there's the occasional flash of colour or print, but the overall effect is cool, self-assured. But this year, the warmth of the backstage atmosphere spilled onto the runway, where golden light bathed the models as they walked.
Between the glow on the runway and the energy backstage, the evening was a reminder of the importance of local industry and how brands can foster community.
Between the hugs and hellos, we managed to take a few snaps, immerse yourself in those moments in the gallery above.
