Cool gal Sophia was born in Gisborne, raised in Auckland, and now lives out her sunniest days in Sydney, Australia. In her spare time, she likes to do “typical teenage stuff” like hang out with mates, explore, exercise and yarn to her fam, although she’s recently added knitting and learning French to her repertoire. Unbeknownst to most people, she also rides a unicycle.
In 2018, she’s most looking forward to “people becoming more accepting of others.” Slowly but surely, she feels that everyone is “beginning to support each other more” and that “people are becoming more comfortable just being themselves”, which to her is “huge.” She loves her job because of everything that it teaches her, along with the long list of skills she’s picked up along the way, like: independence, professionalism, perseverance and social skills. She’s super grateful for all her opportunities, and is most proud of her campaigns for Jurlique, Lonely lingerie and her appearance on Vogue Italia.
Her thought pattern when getting dressed in the moment is simply: “Wear something comfortable and different from yesterday”, and she’s currently most curious about Biology (in particular anatomy and animals) in life. Outside of being with friends and family, she’s most happy when eating breakfast—her “favourite meal of the day.” She gets so excited for it, that she thinks about it when she lays awake at night. Same, girl, same. Watching Netflix (and in particular RuPaul’s Drag Race) comes a close second.
In terms of tunes, she loves anything from the 80s and 90s, but also can’t get enough of 50 Cent and October. She can’t stop saying ‘Adueh’ at the moment, and if she could only eat one meal for the rest of her life, it’d def be French toast. After she finishes modelling, she’d love to work in the health science sector, either in dentistry, dietetics or appearance medicine. To her, ‘cool’ equates to values.
“The people who I think are cool have respect for themselves and others—cool people express themselves!!”
