Catching Up With Our Favourite NZ-Based Twins

Sydney

— July 10, 2018 —

Our favey twins Rain and China Katayanagi recently popped across the pond to bless us with their #blessed looks and chill auras. They were in town for MBFWA (which China cites as being her favourite ever modelling job to work on), but we managed to nab some time to hang out with them in Centennial Park after the lit week had wrapped.

When the cool humans aren’t lighting up dance floors with their impeccable DJ skills, walking runways for brands like Huffer, or starring in editorial campaigns for labels like Lonely, you’ll find them hanging out together, eating or subscribing to the mantra “sleep all day, party all night” in New Zealand’s biggest city, Auckland.

Chloe Nour and Dan Ahwa dressed them up in some seriously luxe fashion, and then took some happy snaps of them basking in the glow of the afternoon sun. See the very pleasant results of that above, then get to know the cuties better below!

RAIN

What do you and China get up to when hanging out together?
Every time we hang, I can only think of getting food.

How would you describe China in one sentence?
You just have to get to know her. Her personality and humour is indescribable.

Where would you take someone visiting Auckland for the first time to eat, drink, shop, dance and people watch?
I’d take them to one of our DJ sets.

What does your ideal day in Auckland look like?
Sunny day, good food, and good company.

What’s been your favourite modelling job to date?
This is a hard question! Every modelling job we’ve done has been lit—it’s always fun, and never stressful. But probably our first runway for Huffer; that was a game changer for us both.

What are you most curious about in life?
Where we end up.

What are you currently listening to, watching and reading?
Haven’t really had time to listen, watch, or read anything. So I’m still jamming music from last month. RIP.

What does ‘cool’ mean to you?
Literally my whole school life I thought being cool was fitting in and being like everyone else. Then after a while it got so exhausting and I just gave up—it hit me that being cool is just being yourself. I wish I listened to my parents when they told me that.
