Can you give us the Synthia elevator pitch?
Me: *Awkwardly smiles with camera in hand*.
Stranger: You take photos?
Me: Um yeh…*Nervous laughs*. I post them on Instagram if you wanna see?
Stranger: Oh, yeah. What is it?
Me: Here. *Gets out at the next level to avoid further conversation*.
The best thing about living in Auckland?
The best thing about living in Auckland, for me, is my family, friends and the Africans here that I know. Corny AF, but it’s the truth.
And the most challenging thing?
The most challenging thing would be establishing myself as a creative. Also, Auckland transport.
Where would you take someone visiting for the first time?
The beach. Karekare, Phia or Bethells/Lake Wainamu. I love water, trees, all of that—there is something so calming and peaceful about it. If it was a Friday or a Saturday night, I’d probably take them on a night out in the CBD with my mates.
If Auckland were a YouTube video:
If Auckland were a colour:
Blue in the summer. Grey in the winter. But tbh the weather is always switching up, so you could get both in one day with a sprinkle of rain.
If Auckland were a song:
I feel like the regular answer would be Sons of Zion’s ‘Drift Away’ or something like that. But, I’m gonna say Skepta & Wizkid’s ‘Energy (Stay Far Away)’. I’d be most likely listening to something like that or some R&B.
