Enter the DONE ZONE with Romance Was Born and Ken Done

Gadigal Land

— May 10, 2022 —

A brilliant mess of ruffles and sequins, a rainbow of painted colour, and the sweet sounds of John Oates singing his 1987 Icehouse hit 'Electric Blue' can mean only one thing: it's fashion week and Romance Was Born have gone and done it again.

CPC friends and faves Anna Plunkett and Luke Sales have made one of their dreams come true, partnering with national treasure Ken Done not only to kick off Afterpay Australian Fashion Week 2022 with signature style and whimsy but also to create their Resort '23 collection.

A few lucky souls were invited yesterday to enter the DONE ZONE and witness the 19-piece collection in motion at the Ken Done Gallery in Sydney's preeminent ghost-tour precinct, The Rocks. Anna and Luke have proven once again that attention to detail is simply a way of life for them.

In addition to Done's artwork providing the backdrop, an underwater reef grotto created by Sydney installation artist Rosie Deacon upped the magic content even more. With pieces handpainted by Ken himself, the collection also includes bespoke details by weaver Adam Mandarano of Studio A. Styled by true fashion industry angel Peter Simon Phillips, the presentation also featured refurbed vintage pieces and sequined gowns handworked by the label's long-time Kolkata atelier.

The collaborative spirit and celebration of natural beauty was palpable. Casting was also top notch. You may recognise some familiar faces in our snaps, namely Maisie Dunlop and Nylow Ajing, plus new faces such as Tatyana Perry. Go ahead and virtually enter the DONE ZONE by scrolling through our gallery.
