Loli

Sydney

— May 6, 2018 —

Cutie Loli was born in Brisbane, and has lived there her whole life. If you were new to town, she’d take you on a lil’ trip to North Stradbroke Island. “Not only does it have some of the most amazing beaches in Queensland, it’s also where my Aboriginal ancestors, the Quandamooka people, are from!”, she explains.

Her upbringing was very family-orientated, and there was always an “emphasis on having fun and enjoying life.” Special! Her weekends were spent hanging with friends and fam, camping and going to the beach, and after school she spent her time in dance classes (reaching a “high level of difficulty” before she had to stop last year.) She says her parents always let her be very independent and make her own choices, even when they may have sometimes been wrong.

“I think this has helped me see the world realistically and gave me the confidence in myself that I can achieve almost anything with a little hard work and determination.”

The hard working angel recently turned 18, and spent her first ~adult~ birthday at a local outdoor pub with close friends and family. She’s about to scoot down to Sydney for MBFWA, where she hopes to explore the city and head to the beach before it gets too icy—outside of killing it on the runway, that is. She got her start in the industry when she was scouted on Instagram, age 14, by a Brisbane modelling agency. She loves modelling because she has met “so many interesting and like-minded people” through it, although if she could change one thing about the industry, it would be more diversity in terms of body types, because “there are a lot of ‘in-between’ sizes that aren’t being represented.” Truth!

Her fave thing about being a young person living in 2018 is the opportunities, because “thanks to social media, we can connect and work with people we otherwise would have never even known of!”

When getting dressed of a morning, she tries her best to choose something that suits what the day holds, but also tries to ensure that it represents who she is and makes her feel confident. She loves hanging with her friends and fam, but also (“like any other teenager at the moment”) doesn’t hate browsing social media and watching YouTube videos. She’s her happiest when she’s on her four week holiday in Brunswick Heads over Christmas. “I’ve been going since before I can even remember, and you really start to feel like a local after all of that time—it makes me super happy!”, she elaborates.

She’s currently listening to ‘Call Out My Name’ by The Weeknd and ‘All the Stars’ by Kendrick Lamar on repeat, and can’t stop saying ‘lol’. “I started saying it as a joke and it just stuck! Someone help me!”, she says. If she could only eat one meal for the rest of her life, it’d be pasta, and to her ‘cool’ means being comfortable and confident in yourself, or moreover being unapologetically yourself. <3.
